Rajnikanth Wants Amitabh to Star in His Daughter Soundarya’s Bilingual Debut Production

In an industry where friendships are usually fragile, the dostana between Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikanth is going from strength to strength. Now Amitabh might act in Rajnikanth’s daughter, Soundarya’s debut production, which will be a bilingual film in English and Tamil. Buzz is that a meeting was to be held between Soundarya and Amitabh to finalise the details but they had to cancel the meeting at the last minute because of Amitabh suddenly fell ill on his birthday on October 11.

Our source said, “Amitabh and Rajnikanth have been friends ever since they worked together in Andhaa Kanoon (1983) and Giraftaar (1985). Thereafter, though they didn’t work together in any Hindi film, they have always kept in touch. Whenever Rajnikanth, who is based in Chennai, visits Mumbai, he makes it a point to meet Amitabh. In fact, recently, when Aishwarya Rai was not keen to star in Rajnikanth’s Robot, Amitabh requested his daughter-in-law to accommodate dates for the film.”

Recently, after Rajnikanth watched Sarkar Raj, he called up Amitabh to congratulate him on his power-packed performance. The source added, “Since Soundarya is all set to make her debut as a producer by launching as many as six films in Hindi, Tamil and English, Rajnikanth thought of signing Amitabh for the film to be directed by Tamil filmmaker Gautham Menon. After initial talks on the phone, a meeting had been fixed to take the discussion further. However, since Amitabh fell ill, the meeting has been postponed.”

Amitabh has immense respect for Rajnikanth and immediately agreed to meet Soundarya. “Had Amitabh not been ill, the deal would have been sealed by now,” said the source.
